Global Megatrends

Global Megatrends Definition

Megatrends are sustained, long-term forces of change that shape the world over decades. They differ from shorter-term trends or fads in that they are structural, cross-sector, and globally significant. Hajkowicz (2015) describes megatrends as shifts that are slow to form but once established, have a decisive and enduring influence across societies, economies, and environments. For organisations, megatrends represent the strategic context within which all decisions about purpose, risk and responsibility must be made.
