Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Definition

Corporate responsibility and sustainability are related but distinct ways of understanding how organisations affect society and the environment. (Bansal and Song, 2017) explain that responsibility research took a normative position, focused on the morality of business, while sustainability research took a systems perspective, focused on business-driven failures in natural systems. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has also evolved beyond simple philanthropy into a broader corporate philosophy that considers stakeholder interests (Diez-Cañamero et al., 2020).
