The Thinking Environment

The origins of the Thinking Environment are steeped in one observation and one question. The observation is "The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first", a statement that has powerful implications. Technique Overview

The Thinking Environment Definition

The thinking environment is a philosophy of communication, based on the work of Nancy Kline (2009). Nigel Cutts (2010) describes It as a practical series of values-based applications which are useful in family, campaigning, community and organisational life, as well as forming the basis of a teaching pedagogy and coaching approach. Evidence from the field of neuroscience supports Kline’s (1999) assertion that giving a person time to think enables them to come up with higher quality responses (Brown & Brown, 2012).
