Project Governance

Project governance is the lynchpin of project success, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. It’s not a constraint but a compass, leading to excellence. It is a structured framework for planning, execution and control. It ensures stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, resource management and decision making.

Project Governance

Project Governance Definition

The word governance derives from the Greek verb κυβερνάω [kubernáo], which gave rise to “gubernare” in Latin, which means “to steer.” In a project setting, project governance is a structured framework overseeing project management activities which sets the direction of the project, provides supervision, allows for effective decision making and manages the resources of the project. Good project governance is the secret weapon of effective project-based organisations. Poor governance can put the organisation at risk of commercial, financial, and regulatory problems.
