Goal Setting

Goal setting is the process of identifying and establishing objectives that an individual or an organisation aims to achieve. It involves defining the desired outcome or result, outlining the steps required to reach that outcome, and establishing a timeframe for completion.

Technique Overview

Goal Setting Definition

In the 1960’s, Edwin Locke put forward the Goal-setting theory of motivation. Stating that goal setting is essentially linked to task performance. In simple words, goals indicate and give direction to an employee about what needs to be done and how much effort is required to achieve it. The process of goal setting enables individuals and organisations to track progress, identify obstacles, and make necessary adjustments to their plans to ensure successful achievement of their objectives.
