Corporate Social Responsibility Definition

A broad definition of corporate social responsibility (CSR), provided by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (Moir, 2001), describes CSR as the continuing commitment of a business to behave ethically and to contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families, as well as the local community and society in general. CSR describes the means through which businesses can rise to the challenge of sustainable development (Cheah et al., 2007).
